Thanks for hosting a great site from a first time poster child. I was wandering about the quality of the Maval power steering pumps sole by Drivewire. Specifically the one for the '95 4runner dw138550102 or dw427201102m. If the "mechanic" says the pump leaks, is the thing roached. Is there such a thing as bench testing the pump? Are there seals that can be replaced in order to save me the 579.00 shekels the guy quoted me? thanks in advance

You can get them out of a junkyard; www.car-part.comOR rebuild http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/steering/11powerste.pdfIIRC, there's a writeup on Yotatech also. If you were using cheapazz power steering fluid instead of Dextron II or III, that would cause your seals to leak. You 'might' get lucky to flush the fluid you have in there and replace it with the recommended stuff.
