Just wondering who else may have had a similiar incident.

I'm walking thru the lot to my truck at lunch and I am hearing a rather loud clicking sound from somewhere, just hoping its not my truck. I get to my truck and yes its clicking very loudly with a nice burnt metal smell from underneath. I pop the hood and theres a huge friggin' squirrel chewing on my wiring harness ! It apparently didnt care I was there staring at it so I had to scream at it to get it to leave. Well apparently the starter was clicking for a few hours because of this nasty creature and who knows what else got fried/shorted.

Anybody else have a similiar story? What got fried ? What did it take to fix it?

Yep...I just replaced the spark plug wires on my Ford Probe (no, I'm still not embarassed about owning a Probe) which were partially eaten by either squirrels or mice. That's actually a pretty common thing up here in the mountains -- especially in winter.

I've heard that if you smash up urnal pucks and place them around where you park, it will deter the rodents. A friend of mine tried it after his new Volvo got chewed up. He said he never had that problem again.

Heh, heh, a couple of years ago, I was living in the top floor of a very nice victorian house. Built in like 1890. Well, every once in a while you could actually hear the squirrels in the kneewall area.

Had to go up in the attic and install an FM antennae one day. As I was crawling over the insulation and rafters I felt this PAINFUL buzzing in my hand! Drew my hand back quickly and focused the flashlight near the area. You got it right, squirrels had chewed off the entire insulative wrapper on BOTH wires!! Great. I also discovered that this was not the only area that they had struck.

Rewired using metal shielded romex, and...let's just say that the neighborhood experienced a squirrel population collapse. (They drew first blood. )

When I go back there and park, luckily, they've left my Trooper alone.

We had the problem of squirrels in my dads old Buicks....

3 years ago we solved that problem...

with my Ruger 10/22 semi-auto squirrel annihilator with stainless steel barrel and full oak stock....oh...and after the assault weapons ban was taken away, a 30 round bananna clip, just for kicks....
