recently took ownership of a montero/pajero 'matic 4g54
far as i know its never seen a trail much less been driven on 4x4
just wondering if there are some things i got to watch out for since i'm sure i'm gonna have to do a bit of off roadin to get to the site
my ride's got manual lockin hubs by the way
guess i just got to lock both of them and engage the transer lever to 4h right
guess this should be titled 4x4 for dummies

what year? Gen1 with manual hubs, you lock them, put it in 4hi back up, drive forward and your done! Gen2s 92 to 99 with super select should just be able to shift on the fly once you lock the hubs.

javypro countries out side the US had the 2.6 up to the mid 90's.
looks like you have hub flanges not manual hubs so you can just shift it into 4hi when you need 4x4 and when you need extra power in 4x4 make sure you come to a stop put the truck into N then shift into 4lo and be on your way

Manila huh? A few of us are from PI.
Nice looking rig! Note that if you're planning on taking it on just a basic dirt road without bumps then you're ok. If you're planning on taking it off road seriously, then remove the side steps & sell them to a "city only" driver or you will damage them.

That rig is gorgeous looking!!! Don't scratch it up offroad, I will cry for you.
The 4x4 should still be good even though it hasn't been used. The transfercase spins all the time since the power to the rear shaft goes through it. It keeps the oil churning up.
I am surprised that you have manual hubs.
Does your truck have a auto disconnect on the front axle? You can check by crawling under the truck. There will be an extra assembly on the passenger side axle tube. It has vac lines going to it, and it has a portion that has a rubber accordion style boot.
The only issue I can think of from infrequent use is the plunger for the front axle disconnect getting stiff.
Just lock in the hubs and go.
