Need a Spot
I have a 1997 Isuzu rodeo 3.2L, Last night on the way home from work, I noticed that every time I steped on the gas the voltage gage would drop below 12 volts. The fan would slow down and lights would dim. After 4 or 5 seconds it would recover again. This morning I went to start it up, it ran 3 or 4 seconds, the voltage gage droped hard and it stopped running. now it only turns over and won't start. I will check for blown fuses. What should be looked at first?

If the alternator's drive belt is in good shape and appears to be holding tension (try spinning the alt by hand - poke it with a stick!)...

... I'd suspect the alternator -- Sounds like a "brush float" condition.

Roll Me Over
First welcome to the forum.

One of the things that we "ask" if that you read the posting stickies at the top of both forums before posting. We also ask that you not post to both forums. Nearly everyone reads both forums and double posting just adds additional threads to the database that the moderators have to delete later on.

Since you have answers to both threads, I am going to close this one.
