Anyone create a snorkel or custom air cleaner for their Weber. Looking for some ideas on how to make it more watertight. That cheesy square air cleaner isnt going to cut it.

Got some free time while I wait to get it owed back home.

like i said in your other post, your kinda on your own for creating a snorkel setup for the Weber.

here's my air intake system: (sans the snorkel at this time)

I got the plenum that sits on the carb from a friend. Refer to your other post where I gave you a link to that part. You can also get a K&N plenum for your Weber but they are spendy. From there you can just go to the junkyard and get some hose parts. I have about 3-4 different vehicles worth of parts going from the carb to the fender. The airbox is from a V6 Montero.

The rest is easy - Safari Snorkel or custom.

With a little imagination and a K&N Filter adapter , You can modify a Dakota airbox to fit. I got the adapter for $30 and the dakota airbox for $25.

where in the world did you get the K&N adapter for $30?

That included shipping. I got it from Quadratec, but I would recommend getting it from Pep Boys or any other retailer that sells K&N products. Quadratec gave me a bunch of crap about it not being a Jeep, then a few wrong orders and finally on the third attempt got the adapter. It's the snorkel part of the K&N setup that costs so much, something like $120. But the plate in the link pic is around $30. Then just get the top half from a 98-03 Dakota V6 or V8.

The big problem is the Weber has a pass though for choke linkage from behind the choke coil. It allows dirt and water up through it. The only way around that is to disconnect and remove all the choke components and seal it with RTV. If you don't believe me, just look.

Is there a way or have you already come up with one to connect the airbox to the fender like the factory intake?

I fashioned two brackets out of aluminum flat bar to mount from the factory Dakota mounting points and mounting tabs already located under it for the vacc cannister lines.
The bottom of the Dakota airbox countours the right inner fender quite well.
