I bought a Warn M8000 used, I have everything where I want it, but besides the two 2ga primary battery hookups coming from the solinoid box, there is a small black 14ga wire the same length as the primary cables. The small wire has a large ring terminal like it would also get hooked to the battery. The winch used to be installed on a 1/2 ton Dodge bush guard style mount. Any Ideas what the small cable is for and where it hooks to?

Well, sorry, I got impatient for replys so I pulled apart the solinoid box and with a DMM and a power probe I found that the winch will not operate unless that lead is grounded as well as the black primary lead. Seem that it would work well to make the winch tamper resistant. Put a switch on the dash that grounds the wire only when you want to use the winch. Of course with no locks on my doors and vinyl plastic windows, that would be pointless for me. Thanks to all the great people that replyed to my original post
