Conner thank you for the warning.

I am going to have to keep my eye on it for now. I have bigger fish to fry first, like verifying if I bent a valve because of the wrong directions in the factory manual. The original belt looked fine even with the pulley damage, so I think it should suffice for now.

No Kevin, i gave my opinion based on what i have personally experienced. If you disagree with that, so be it. But you might want to have another look at that photo.

Conner,

The input and experience is appreciated, I did take a close look at the photo, hence my comment. As far as interpretation of the photo that was my take and I just got new glasses! The real photo expert seems to be 52?à He can read gear patterns off of a photo better than I can with the part 12ö from me.

Proof is in the results, It worked and did not tear up the belt.

I am happy with the results and i hope it is long term as well. I have no clue what the rest of your statements with the 52?à and the gear patterns pertain to. You will have to educate me.
Thanks
Conner

See my post in the talk section for setting up gears with a Torsen diff....

52? is some new guy to the board <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> that can read gear patterns pretty well.

I think he might be a mechanic or something.

I'm not new, I'm ClayV with a new name.

I chipped the crap out of my pulley when I couldn't find out how to take it off. It's just like Doug's only in 2 places. I've never had a problem with it.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
From the Photo it appears to only be the lip, the lip that stops the belt from jumping off - should be fine. It's on the inner lip too - you'd have to be really really really unlucky for this to cause a problem I recon - I'd reuse it if cash was an issue......
(It'll Probably last way past when you have cash to do it, I've seen some pretty scabby pullies running for years!)

Be thankful it wasn't actually the bit with the timing marker...! (That would be just typical!)

If you re-use this it may create a slight tapping noise if the belt touches it (For a while) but run a file over just the inside of the lip should work - don't cut the damage out just make sure nothing is pertruding in a direction that it shouldn't be.

Final note (As we always should) - check often, if it starts to look bad catch it before it may become a problem, knowing there is a problem and how serious the problem is, is the first step to saving big cash!

And guys calm down there's going to be a fight the way you lot are carrying on - these are all just opinions....

(P.S. I think that they are tyre tread patterns! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />)

My concerns were not just the missing section but also what appears to be a piece missing from one rib and it appears that the front of the pulley was hammered at the top. However if it is working well, that is all that matters.

From a design standpoint... This is why the paint is untouhced by the outer lip.

That lip is only used so you get the belt on right, a multi V groove belt does not need a guide once its alligned and tensioned.

Conner,

I think if you look carfully you will find that non of the "V's" the belt runs in are dammaged, just the outer edge.

Clay,

I was just messing with you, <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />
