Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm getting ready to install the sloped hangers on the rear of my 88 Runner so I can fit Marlin's longer springs.

My question is this. When measuring six inches forward of the stock spring, the new hanger will be on the curve of the frame without a flat contact.
Am I measuring wrong or missing something here.

Their site says "When measuring the position of the hangers, measure from the center of the stock spring mount to the center of the new mount, along the frame."

Does anyone have a photo of these hangers installed.

Thanks

I used stock hangers from Toyota for my longer rear springs:

Put them wherever the marks line up. I like to measure the existing springs, front eye to center bolt and the new springs front-eye to center bolt and move the hanger forward the difference of those two measurements. This assumes you are happy with the rear axle position (i.e the tire is center in the wheel well opening). My 56" Alcans needed hangers 6.5" forward of stock on my '85. I first bolted them in place (drilled/tapped holes into the frame) and checked the spring fit. Had first tried 5.5" as I had heard someone else use, but moved them forward another inch after testing the axle location.

Thanks Roger, Did you relocate the rear shackle mounts also?

The only problem with putting them where the marks are is that it's not a flat plane for them to sit on. It looks like stock mounts would work because of their design.

I'll take more measurements and see what I have to work with.

Here is the mounts I'm working with.

Nope, just ran longer shackles:

The Toyota hangers and the AOR hangers that I have worked with are cut out on the base so they can sit flat. One option is to let the hanger into the bottom of the frame a bit, I did that when I swapped to the AOR hangers:

Then I added a double shackle setup to effectively move the rear shackle hanger back 3.5" to allow a shorter shackle to be run:

Thanks again. I think I found an answer to my problem. It looks like I'll move them in just a touch and weld in some flat stock to fill in the gap. I've got longer shackles so I'll try them before relocating the rear mounts.

I'll post how it turns out.
