Just got the call from the wife.My truck just died. She says its not getting fuel. It's an 89 trooper 2.6.The other one we have that just got retired because it won't pass an emission test is a 90 2.8.If it turns out to be the pump, will the V-6 pump work on the 4 banger? I haven't got home to look at it so it could be a relay, wiring or fuse but in case I'd rather know in advance.

Won't work. The 2.8 one is TBI. The 2.6 is MPFI. TBI uses about a LOT lower of a psi pump than the MPFI does. Wouldn't work. I'd make sure to check the wiring and everything. The harness on top of the tank seems to be a bad spot.

Gonna check it out tonight when I get home.We had a problem like this once before with the wiring on top of the tank.I soldered the connections and covered them in a puddle of GOOP.Other than that we have had no grief with this truck in 100000 km (62000) miles. Not bad for $450 cdn and a new cylinder head.

If it turns out to be the pump , messageme later and I'll sell you my pump from my 89 2.6.Its sitting in my basement and I don't need it anymore.I was gonna stick it with everything else for the engine when I sold it , but never did sell the engine and tranny yet.

Don't got with a used pump. It is enough of a headache when it dies, you are just rolling the dice with used.

Down here, replacement pumps go for about $80-$100. Well worth the investment to do it just once in your lifetime. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
