Hey everyone.. Well It's snowing, and guess what. My warn hubs have starting giving me problems.. I just replaced the factory hubs with warn's in September of 2005. I use the 4x4 at least once a week in muddy fields and smaller mud holes and have never had any problems. Tonight I locked in the hubs due to the snow and the front end popped and I was down to 2 wheel drive. I found the problem to be the right hub. I took the hub apart and cleaned it (Not that it needed it), gave it a good once over (no problems found) and placed it back on. The 4 wheel drive worked.. Then again the pop and back to 2 wheel drive.. Then pop and 4 wheel drive, and pop 2 wheel drive...ect... Took the hub back off, took it apart and gave it a real good look.. Still did not see a problem.. Then I gave it up. I placed the factory hub that has been made full time locked in, back on the right front. And the 4x4 works fine.. What could be wrong with the warn hub.. Everything is moving as it should in the hub including the interior slide and the gear is not stripped.. Any ideas.. Thanks in advance Michael, from Kentucky..

If it ain't broke, it will be..

I have to admit to shattering one along the splines that slide on to the stub axle, so I would agree they are not indestrucable....not too different timeframe either.

I'd recommend re-lubing the hub with axle grease and checking both the axle stub and hub to make sure the splines mesh completely.

If it looks fine, and the lube doesn't help, I'd warrantee both hubs. Warn stands behind their products. If its user abuse like Gary, then you should be expected to buy new ones.

Just a dumb question, but when you did the install, did you cap off the vacuum line under the hood? Could be that the vacuum line is still trying to activate the hub.

The vacuum system was dis-engaged and the lines plugged.. I have it off again and i'm going to clean it again and try lubing it again. If this does not work I will warrenty them tomorrow..

Well I finally gave in.. I took the hubs back to the Warn dealer and they gave it a look. They said the tention spring was weak and that it was not pushing the locker in far enough to engage.. They replaced the set for free.. So I'm good to go again.. I hope it still works if it snows again.. Seems that is the only time I have problems with anything.. Thanks for the advise.. Michael
