Don't like to leave threads hanging..

Reagrding this thread ( long time cranking cold )

I think I broke Betsy

Fule lines rusted through, fuel leak under driver door discovered. All lines replaced.
Mileage suffered slightly, but more from a under-reading fuel gauge which has mysteriously fixed itself.

Thanks for all the replies. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Drew, if you found rusty fuel lines, and have a funny guage, I'd recommend you pull the cover over your fuel tank under the carpet in the back (you know where it is) and examine the sending unit and fuel pump harnesses, next time you get a chance. I went to start Betsy II (it was parked in the garage) one morning, and it wasn't getting fuel. I traced it back to the pump, and lo and behold, when I checked the wiring harness to the top of the tank, the wire had corroded to a green dust, which blew away when I pulled back the insulation! A newly spliced wire fixed it quickly.

Just something to check, if you're dealing with rust and finding funny symptoms with the fuel guage.

OK , Thanks...

My pump and fuel unit went tits up 6 months ago. It was 800$ to fix. Now the lines. The gauge was under-reading by 1/4 tank...now it "seems" to be back to normal. I'll check the tank if it happens again.

I never realized you called yours Betsy too !

I named mine when I got it after the first DC-3 of Cathay Pacific Airlines which was also named " Betsy"

Funny. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
