The bellhousings on the BA10 and the early AX15 look similar, Are they interchangeable? I don't mind that it uses the internal slave. I've been noticing that the AX15's that are for sale usually don't come w/ the bellhousing.

With the one made in France and the other in Japan I seriously doubt it. But I really don't know.

If you look at the pics of both they look really close. I do know that Peugot is a french gearbox and the Aisin is a Japaneese gearbox but like alot of other AMCs, Who made the bellhousing?

Basically I am not convinced that the bellhousings for these two internal slave dsigns are not one and the same (and made by ? Chrysler). If I find an internal slave AX15 I may answer my own question, so far it has been a tough find locally, so I asked.

I think they might interchange. The only way to know is to try or find someone who has done the swap. If I recollect properly, the 4.2 and 4.0 have the same bellhouse since at least 87. Now I also recollect putting my keys on the counter and now I have no idea where they went...

A quick search shows that a BA10 to AX15 conversion kit from drivetrain.com includes a new bellhousing. I'll bet you a nickle that's because they do not interchange.
