i hate to ask such a noob question, but i cant find anything in the searches, and i dont want to take off my deteriorating door panels unless i really have to...
my door lock to my drivers door kinda froze up about a month ago. it feels like its something mechanical that is stuck, and no force of the key will turn the lock over. the passenger door started doing this last night, leaving my back window as the only option to break into my truck every time i use it.... the ignition still works great, but the locks just feel seized... anyone ever run into this?

Have you lubed the lock cylinders? Go and get some Lock-ease (I think that is the name). It is a liquid lock graphite based lube, the liquid is just a carrier and evaporates. Do not use anything in the cylinders then graphite lube, anything else will gum them up.

Have you tried you spare key? I had this happen to me. I alway use my alarm to unlock my door and never used the key. I had to use the key one day and the lock no worky. I sprayed some liquid graphite in it a few times and let it sit a few hours. Opened right up..... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Did this happen all of the sudden or gradually? I had it happen to mine all of the sudden. A little return spring broke and it would act like the handle is up and won't let the lock unlock. If that's it you'll have to take apart the door on the inside and look for a tiny spring hanging there (hopefully it's still there).

Mine is FUBAR'd too. You'll have to take the panel off from the inside to get at the mechnism.. There's a little sliding deal that prevents the door from unlocking - it's usually held in position by a spring.

thanks for your help everyone... lubed up the cylinders, which released one of them, but not the other.. i took the other one apart and narrowd it down to the cylinder itself.. seems that not all of the little pins are getting in place, and mechanically it has just worn out. the other one that is freed up now feels like its gonna stop working soon too...
what is the best solution i might have for getting new door lock cylinders? can I get my ignition re-keyed also so that they match?

danny A lock smith would be my guess. And yes, they can get get things matched up key-wise.
