I was under the assumption that all second gen passports had 4.30's mainly because the owners manual only showed 4.30 as the gear ratio for 2wd and 4wd.

That and I hadn't ever heard of a 2nd gen Passport having anything other than 4.30's

Well I just got through counting the teeth on my old rear end, 41/10

I was amazed.

I wonder if it varies with the tire package Isn't that what makes the difference on 1st gens?

Yours came with 16" rims right? That comes with the rear mounted spare IIRC.

Interesting

It says right in the owners manual, 4.10 for autos, 4.30 for manual (on the v6). This is different than the 1st gen rodeos, where gear ratio depended on the factory wheel option.

I knew the Rodeos had the 4.10 option, especially when it came with the 225 tire.

My manual says for the Passport 4.30 is the only option.

No big deal really, I just went from 4.10 to 4.77 instead of 4.30 to 4.77.

Bigger jump, good thing.

Hmmmm. This was an 02 rodeo manual I was looking in, they definately had a little chart that said auto=4.10s, manual=4.30s. I don't know why it would be any different for passports, though I suppose it could be different based on the years. I would think if anything, since Passports come only with v6 and auto, they should have only 4.10s.
