I remember reading on here, that someome had got the steering recall done on their toyota and the dealer didn't do a wheel alignment on the truck after they finished the recall. Ijust got mine done at Toyota of Des Moines, Iowa. They replaced the part and did the alignment. When I told them about what I read on here about the guy that had his done and they didn't do the alignment they said that is part of the recall and that person should call toyota usa and tell them because this is included in the recall.

They have to tear down the pitman arm to do this; we've got the recall information he needs over in the Toyota Tech Archive.

someome had got the steering recall done on their toyota and the dealer didn't do a wheel alignment on the truck after they finished the recall. That was me, or at least I am one. They wouldn't align it because I had ball joint spacers and 33" tires. I bear no ill will because I learned on this forum how to do it myself & will never go back!

Glad they didn't give you any gruff. Did I mention that they also charged me $54 for a $19 part? Still no ill will. No return business, but no ill will.

You are all lucky, they refused to do mine because I have one of those Total Chaos idler arms which requires drilling out the cross link (relay rod) tapered hole out to 5/8". They refused to modify a safety related component.
I'm getting a "used" stock unit so I can get it done, then I'm going to have it drilled out after.
