I recently got a used Aisan carb off of a '85 pickup on eBay for $41 w/ shipping( Good Deal???) Today I started the dissassembley, planning on soaking it tonight and tomorrow and starting to reassemble on tuesday. However while I was removing the secondary main jet I stripped the crap out of the slot on the top that the screw driver fits into (stupid brass!!!) now I can't get anything onto it to get it out.....any ideas?
And my more(or less) important problem is where do I buy new jets for it? I know that the stealer dosen't carry carb parts anymore.....so is there anywhere that would carry the correct ones, oh, and which sizes are the stock jets?
Thanks alot kids.

The dealer DOES carry jets; just got some a few months ago. You need the main and slow jets; the float was actually the expensive component.
I presume what you get from Toyota IS stock. They'll need the carb body number stamped on there (eg 6ED1), as the carbs on Celicas vs trucks are a tad different.
Too bad you didn't stop on that jet while you were ahead; that's what PB Blaster and Aerokroil are for.
I wonder if Josh has buggered any of those-- HEY JOSH!!

I got the dang thing soakin in it now, hoping I *might* be able to coax it outta there.....hopefully.....where's that carb body number at? Shouldn't I be able to tell them it's from a truck and they can find it? My parts counter guys must not like me then, last time I was in I began to ask about a carb part,(the idle cut solenoid) and he cut me off saying "We don't sell ANY carb parts anymore" Bah. Well guess I'll try again on monday. Do I need new jets on a rebuild? My rebuild kit came with a new slow jet but not the mains.....Thanks Margie!
Oh yeah...........JOSH!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's like anything; if you're already going to the trouble for a teardown, it's not something you want to revisit any time soon!
The number is stamped on the top of the carb body itself; you'll see it.
I strongly suggest you talk to a different parts person, esp if he simply cut you off (mention to service manager if needed). AND-- you are welcome to tell them that Auto Service Company (our Yota dealership) in Fairbanks, Alaska just ordered one of your moderators a set of jets AND a float about 2 months ago.
You can always give Desert Toyota in Tucson a call.
If you wind up needing numbers, LMK. We just warmed up, so I won't crack a tote lid diggin' em out.

And you're calling US kids? I was servicing B52's when I was your age. I'll be munchin' enchiladas and tacos and watchin' the big screen tomorrow, so I can dig out those numbers if ya need 'em on Montag. I see in another post you mentioned something about your idle solenoid? Ya might give the Carburator Exchange there in PHX a call; they should be in the book. They might have a carcass or two laying around to cann a part from. If not, check www.thepartsbin.com

That's Carb and Radiator Exchange? Had a so-so experience with them, they rebuilt my current carb and it's run ok since then.....they seemed like a real good shop though, just had alot going on at the time, and a new guy
Oh yeah....that thing on TV.....superwhatsitbowl no rush on the numbers though, thanks!

Well, got the darn thing out, drilled a hole through the center of the jet to relieve some of the pressure and then it came right out.....guess I really will need a new jet now, I thing 5/32 is a bit too big
Another question: what are those two little silver balls that they gave me with the rebuild kit? I can't find anything like that in my old carb but I can hear something when I shake it....where they at??

1. Jets are more/less the same. Use the jets in your old carb. Otherwise I'll give you some next time I'm down in phx. I have 5+ carbs laying around.
2. Bolt extractors work on jets. So does drilling. Glad you got it out.
3. The "silver balls" are actualy lead. Other than a tasty snack, you can plug unneeded ports on the carb.
If you ever need carb parts, just let me know. I think near the end of march I'll start doing my rebuilds again. I have peanty of cores from what I remember(all my stuff is in phx). I kinda miss working on trucks. Just too cold outside right now.
