Calmini Upper Control Arm....Problems... #696329 02/14/06 01:03 AM

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone had any problems with the Calmini Upper Control Arm??? My Mechanic tried to install them on my 2000 Rodeo, but it wouldn't fit. The mounts were too small and the UCA had extra room, 1/2", to move left to right. I'm not sure what the real terminology for it was, but I'm just trying to see if anyone else had similar problems or know what I am talking about. He called Calmini and they said they couldn't help with the problem and to just send them some pictures. Terrible Customer Service as usual. I told my Mechanic to go ahead and install the rest of the kit and I will try to send back the UCA for replacements. Just wondering if anyone had the same problems with it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you might have been sent the wrong arms for your application. You shouldn't have that much play in there

Hope you get things worked out

I guess the good thing is that you should be able to lift the front to height just by cranking the t-bars, from what I have read anyways. At least until you get your UCA's figured out. If you take digital pics for Calmini, you should also post them here. Someone that has the lift should be able to compare them and possibly see if they are the same as thiers.

Beleive it or not, I was the first one to find out and inform calmini of this problem years ago, the thing was that they had designed them on a '92 trooper and didnt do enough research to figure out that there was a change between '94 and '95. When I called them to try and work this problem out they were completly un-willing to help me and it's obvious that they still do not care or they would have fabbed up and created a new arm. I kept my parts and cut and re-fabbed them myself. If you do this it will void the warrenty but it's the only way to make them fit, the arm must be cut and extended for it to allign correctly. hope this helps, sorry that you had to find out how horrible they are about helping people this way.....

Are you sure you where the first one? They told me the exact same thing when I installed there arms on my 00 trooper (in the summer of 2001). At least they didnÆt call you a liar like they did me (when I told them they didnÆt fit).

Yeah I'm pretty sure, I called them in january of 2001, so I suppose it was just shortly before you. they also called me a liar and said I must be one of the least knowlegable people they knew. When I really think about it, I may not have been the first one, they might have been just saying that b/c they didnt want to admit that they had a BIG problem. Either way they are liars and I think we can both agree on that part.

Thanks for the responses everyone. My Mechanic has the pictures and he is suppose to email them to me, but I haven't received them yet. I will post them as soon as I can. I will try to contact Calmini this week and see what they say, even though I can already guess what their answer will be....

Send the whole dumb kit back and get some OME springs and be done with it. Do the lift yourself, and use they money you saved for a winch or boulder bars or HID aux lighting or some other cool stuff.
