Go for it man... It is a simple piece of steel! Should be as good as any other.

It will probably do the job. BTW it is 36.99 online. If you are shopping at a store, print out the online price and they will match it. Like most of HarborFreight's stuff it is made in China. I would probably have one if there was a store closer. I think my 48" hi-lift cost 48 dollars delivered.

My brother has the harbor fright high lift and I have the name brand. His works, but it needs more cleaning, and I just don't trust it.

Everything I buy from harbor fright breaks with no exception (impact sockets explode, wrenches break in half, tarps rot at 2X, ETC...), they are great 1-2 good use tools then they are ready to toss in the can. It's your money, but if it were mine I'd get the name brand unless this is going to be used once a year.

I have one. It's ok, but I'd rather have a high lift.

I've used it a couple times, once as a shovel.

It seems to be more suceptable to dirt hanging it up than the high lift. Keep it clean and lubed and it'll do all right.

Next time you are in town, Pete, there is a store right across from my neigborhood. I personally have the Highlift, and have had very little problems with it. When it was new it would not ratchet real easy, but once it was used a few times it worked fine.

Yeah, I've been there a couple of times. unlike some people, 50 miles is a long trip to me! 'Specially when it's one way! That's where I bought my winch and some other odds and ends. If dirt makes it hang up more often it's probably because it's made to finer tolerances! I usually look at the tools in my hand and then decide if it's worth buying or not. I have purchased a set of three jaw pullers, wrench sets, Wobble extention set, tap and die set, drill bit set, 1/2" variable speed drill, welding helmet, and winch from them so far and all still work and have worked fine. I have broken one Tap and one jaw on a small three jaw puller but both were entirely due to my abuse of the tool.
I'll shop there again I'm sure. Being the tightwad I am.

Don't get me wrong, harbor frieght has its uses. I have a set of tools I call my "Pismo set". It's a full set of ratches (1/4, 3/8, 1/2) and wrenches I take with me to the dunes and on the trails because I don't give a crap what happens to them.

Exactly. Impact wrench= wrench hit w/ a hammer.
