Body Damage is Cool
Good evening fellas...i cant get my truck to idle smoothly below 1000 rpms. i used to be able to get it smootlhy at 750 but no longer can. once i go below 1000 rpms it wants to die and starts breaking up. Ive burped the coolant. The problem started a while ago since i had to swap a lower intake on it. ever since the it idled rough when it was fully warmed up. there are no leaks at the manifold and the vaccuum lines are oriented correctly

Jumpering the connectors just tells the computer to go to default timing. Are you able to get the default timing set with the connector jumpered? If not, that's another clue pointing to the TPS. Follow Roger's write up very carefully and don't skip any of his steps.

Good Luck,
Indy

well i swapped throttle bodies today. and it still does the same thing. but now i noticed at slight throttle you can hear the air rushing in the air flow meter then when you release the throttle you here a a sucking sound like vacuum then the idle goes down. i also have to push the butterfly a tiny bit more and the the idle goes down further. ive adjusted the dashpot and its not sticking. anyone know what would cause this. i looked at the plugs and the ground is white but the electrode it brownish white with no wear on it.

I would be leaning toward TPS adjustment. It might have been 'out' on the new TB, as well.

I'd look for a vacuum leak too. Use a can of carb cleaner if you don't have a propane enrichment tool.

Need a Spot
I just got mine out of the shop yesterday and it was doing the same thing. Idled way too fast after it warmed up. The mechanic put the throttle cable back on too tight and the spring wasn't able to completely close the throttle. I could idle it down by manually twisting it closed at the throttle. I loosened the cable just a bit and that gave it enough slack to close completely.
