Body Damage is Cool
Today I went about putting on new CV axels, and decided I'd also replace the disc rotor because it was WAAAAY beyond the point of being turned....pretty much unsafe Everything went pretty good 'cept for FUBARing the inner seal on the hub, oh well new one tomorrow morning. My question is this: how do I seperate the hub from the rotor? I soaked the dang thing in PB but it ain't movin. Tried drilling through but I killed 2 drill bits and I ain't even through one bolt yet!! Whats the trick here, I feel like I gotta be missin somethin.

Thanks!!

The lockout hub? Or the rotor from the spindle assembly?

If your truck is IFS or an early solid axle (1979-1980) removing and replacing rotors is an easy task. Remove the 6-14mm bolts from the back side of the wheel hub, and pull the rotor off of the wheel hub. Replacing the rotor is just as easy, but be sure to clean any debris off the wheel hub first, so that you are sure the rotor is sitting flush on the wheel hub.

HA! Riiiiight.

Mine are completly rusted/siezed to the hub

take them to a shop, I am pretty sure that you have to press out the lug studs as well as the 14 mm bolts on the back.

On my 91 I had some bolts to undo and I used a 10lb. beater to help it along.

Might be a good time to upgrade to >93 v6 brake system.

The EASIEST way is to simply unbolt the 6 bolts holding the rotor to the hub, and drive a pickle fork in between the rotor and the hub.

Thanks guys, I got it off, for some reason it didn't want to come off for me, soaked her in PB over night and attacked with a ratchet and a rubber mallet and we're in buisness

On a side note, it looks like someone put V6 calipers on it before I got the truck, sweet!!
