Need a Spot
I've got an '87 Trooper II with the 2.3L engine. In the process of adjusting the carburetor with the engine idling, my screwdriver slipped against something on (or near) the intake manifold, sparks flew, and the engine stalled. I THINK it shorted the condenser connected to the intake manifold. When I tried to re-start the engine it wouldn't start even with starter fluid.

I tried replacing the condenser with an old one (which may or may not be any good), but the engine still didn't start. I checked the fuses and none seemed to be blown.

Does anyone know what might be shorted out that would cause it to stall and not re-start?

Thanks.

I fried a coil one time like that. Dunno, just my $0.02.

I just checked the coil and unfortunately you seem to be right. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

And it was a brand new coil too.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

EDIT: I think it may have just been a fuse. The new coil tested out of spec as well. I think my electrical meter needs new batteries.
