I am having so much fun tearing this thing apart. Anyhow, there are a few things that are beyond me. One of which is servicing the pump and injectors. I've read on this forum about using Diesel Equipment Service in Greensboro. I'm planning on taking both parts there, but will I need to give them the specs? I have a manual, but if I'm planning on running B100, is there anything that they can do to bump up the pressure and make it push through the thicker stuff?

Also, I have a donor vehicle (dec 87) with 4 wheel disc brakes. Is it worth the effort to change master cylinders? Is the bias the same with my old one?

Also, if anyone wants to pick on my 87 carcass around Durham way, you're welcome to.

Thanks!!

Tom

Tom, is the donor 87 Trooper a diesel? If so I may need some parts. Thanks.

I wish. It was a gasser, but the engine is long gone.

DES is an Akai authorized service center (or were when I was last there). They can do anything to the fuel injection system and have everyhting. Just carry it all down there and install it when they are done. They have done great work for me.

I make my own biodiesel and run B100 and have no problem with fuel delivery and don't beleive a pressure build is in this system's best interest anyway. They could advise yu better of course, and I would listen to every word they say.

Good luck,

NCDiesel

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hello Tommy.I may have need of the trooper body. If all you need is the injectors cleaned and the pop off pressure set I can do that for you as well as set the IP timing. I am in Durham.

Would increasing the pressure be something that is necessay for Bio-Diesle use? (not trying to be a flamer here, just asking)
My understanding is that at the proper temperatures (using B-100 above about 45F) it is about the same viscosity as #2 Diesel. (well I guess it is a bit thincker)..but wouldn't increasing the pressure influence the fuel mileage?
Just bouncing a couple of questions around.

Jerry, is the one year old 4.56 LSD rear out of another Isuzu 4WD vehicle or did it come out of an older Trooper? Didn't just about every 86 Trooper come without an LSD rear end from the factory? I have an 86 Trooper 4 door and would like to ask if you'd be interested in selling just the rear end out of your 86? Will an LSD rear be better for off-roading than a normal non-LSD rear? Thanks for your reply.

Hey,

I think I might've combined two thoughts into one. There are a few companies that are coming out with single tank systems for running SVO (like elsbett), and they seem to have a common thread... they change the nozzles and boost the pressure to accomodate the thicker veggie oil. I don't think I'd have to do much to actually run b100, just planning ahead. Sorry for the confusion.
