Vibration after recall

Just curious if anyone else had vibration issues after their steering rod recall. I don't recall it shaking at high speeds like it does now. They gave me an alignment and it drives super straight. I rotated the tires, but that didn't seem to help. Could it just be I have out of balance tires? Could the steering rod have anything to with it? The tires I have I bought used - set of 33" Cooper tires, but like I said I don't remember it shaking this bad prior to the recall service. Any thoughts? Shaking happens at free way speeds above 60mph about.Thanks.

I had a wicked shake over 60 before I replaced my tires. I went with a brand name BFG instead of the pepboy tires that were on it. I went to discount tire and have never had a vibration since.

Its unlikely the shaking has anything to do with replacement of the relay rod...

Its unlikely the shaking has anything to do with replacement of the relay rod... Interesting. After driving it again, it definately was NOT that way before I brought it in. I have the BJ spacer lift on there, and the dealership did my alignment could it be from a bad alignment or an align that is to factory specs- instead of adjustment for the 1.5" of the lift? The alignment I had done before this was at a 4x4 shop and it drove smooth. I know my tires are probably a part of the problem, but I am puzzled as to why there is such a difference now... especially since it drives straight. Thanks again. I have an appointment tommorrow at Folsom Lake Toyota for a remedy of this. Anything that I should tell them or ask of them, other than bringing to their attention the lift?

An alignment is an alignment, regardless of whether or not you have the spacers...
I'd definitely look at your tires, especially if you rotated them.

Could be they screwed something up when they jacked it up but you would think if they really bent something it would pull or be apparent at all speeds. They have a Les Schwab in Pville that should have the good tire balancer if Folsom Toyota finds or admitts nothing. I got ripped by them one time while buying a Corolla so I don't have good feelings for them. But, that was sales.

So that doesn't affect "factory specs?" - then why when I first put them on I had to get a 4x4 shop to do it for $100 - Is that because it is just more difficult to get it into specs after an adjustment like that?

that's funny - I was just told that like this second! Anyways the alignment seems okay, I am authorizing them to do a wheel balance, so I hope that is it. I'm still flaberghasted that it happened after I got it back and no signs of it before and the tech didn't have an answer for me.

Yep... Most places freak out simply because of how much adjustment is required. The LCA's need to go out by a good amount (depending on t-bar crank) to compensate for the added distance/angle change between the UCA & LCA.
