tacoma 4x4 transfer case problem #702409 03/03/06 04:39 PM

I have a stock 2000 tacoma 2.7 liter 4x4, and the other day my 4 wheel drive spontaniously quite with no warning. The transfer shift lever will move, but the 4 wheel drive light will not come on and it will not ingage the 4 wheel drive, but it will ingage the low lock and it does not grind in the transfer case. So last night I took out the transfer shift lever and inspected both the shift gear heads and the slotted pins that hold them to the fork shafts and every looked good and was in good working order. Has any body seen this problem and could possible tell what is wrong, and if there is a quik fix before I get crazy and tear the tranfer case apart.

I had a problem a while ago with my 4wd and found it was the ADD. I found out by putting the car in 2wd and the front driveshaft spun. I pulled the lever with the car turned off into 4wd and the front drive shaft didn't spin anymore so I figured the transfer was engaging. Hope it helps <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
