Light bar mounting #703150 03/06/06 04:00 AM

I'm about halfway fabbin up my light bar to put on my 85 trooper and I still haven't really found out where its going to bolt onto so I really can't finish the fab 100% Its just going to be a bar up on the roof to keep the lights out of the mud and from being splattered all over the road like my old ones if I get in another wreck.
200 bucks for lights is a bit much to have their reminants splattered all over the highway.

What would be the best way to go about mounting it to the roof. I was thinking about drilling and mounting it to the little gutter like things that run around the roof but I dont know how well thatd work. There aren't any bars or mounting systems made for my year so thats why I'm having to do everything myself.

Anyone have an opinion as to where I should mount the bar to?

Body Damage is Cool
I got some bars from proline roof racks. they attach to the gutters and are only about $50 for the two bars (roof rack)

I was just looking at how to do my lights up there today in fact. hoping to get them back up there soon.

I have a pair of Yakima Crossbars (Round) that are used for eaither Ski Racks, bike Racks, etc.. I custom made the brackets to fit a 1st Gen Trooper on the gutter. They lock and everything! Would you possibly be interested?

Otherwise I can show you pictures of the mounts I made to attatch my roof rack to my gutter.
