89 cherokee when riding at speeds of 45mph or faster when i hit a but in the road the front end shakes real bad just wondering if it could be the suspension arm bushings.

Yes, I suppose it could be, it could be a bunch of other things as well. Individually or together. Ball joints, tie rod ends, track bars, wheel bearings, u-joints, steering damper, even lug nuts also need to be checked. (assuming you have all those things)

not sure if it would happen on a jeep, but I had a ford that when you did that it shake from side to side really bad and you would need to stop just about to get it to stop.....It was a bad stering pump....the valve inside was bad

Tires and their pressures can also be a factor as can front end alignment.

A bad shock(s)? I had one blow out on me and having one blown is much worse than both. It will do some scary stuff when you hit a bump, including change lanes w/o using the steering wheel. Check for oil leaking from one or both. Do the old bounce on the bumper trick. It will be very obvious if one is blown. BTW it does not have to leak to be bad, a broke loose valve inside will do it. I've seen new ones do it.

double check all of those things to make sure they are as tight as you can get them.if they are even slightly loose that could cause a problem. how recent did you replace them, and what size tires do you have?

out of all the jeeps in this town the d**n gremlin had to invade mine

I've done so much, with so little for so long i can practicly do anything with nothing
