Now that I have the Axiom lifted <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> (will post pics once the tires are installed), I noticed that the underbelly has a few unprotected areas. I do seem to have skidplates at the Radiator, Transfercase and Fuel Tank. But, none at the Oil Pan (looks like there might be a bolt on a crossmember for one.) or the under truck Spare Tire area. Does anyone know who makes them for those areas? Also, are RockSliderz available for the Axiom?

you could have custom skids fabbed... otherwise doesn't the axiom literally have the same frame as a same-year trooper?

I could be wrong, but I am 90% certain that the frame/suspension is Rodeo, with the drivetrain Trooper.

I dont have an Axiom nearby to verify, but when they were introduced several years ago, that is what was deduced.

I would look at the Rodeo for skids/sliders.
[edit]After reading your post again, it seems as though you have all the OEM skids. I do not have one for the oil pan (engine/tranny) nor the rear. Really I dont see as though you need one, ESPECIALLY in the rear, but YMMV.[/edit]

this is true. Axiom is the Rodeo frame/suspension with the Trooper's engine.

Axiom has the same set of skidplates as Rodeo. Which is not bad, actually. The only real problem is the transmission - it's almost unprotected.

I've been searching for aftermarket skidplates for Rodeo and I've not found anything, unfortunately.
Our aftermarket suppliers (Independent4x and Darlington-offroad) do not have requests for the skidplates, and they are not going to produce some, which is bad, but understandable.

Calmini was considering a skidplate set once but they dropped this.

I remember an Australian company did have a set, but they dropped it before I came to their dealer for order. I wish I discovered them earlier.



you can use Rodeo sliders applications (there are several of them) on your Axiom.

seriously as much as people seem to like the idea of ordering stuff and having it show up in the mail ready to bolt on... you folks really need to hit up fab shops once in a while.

Ask around your area who's the best to go to, and then talk with the people who run shops. As an example, Hunter Off Road here in Tempe, AZ does incredibly good custom work on skidplates, sliders, etc.... for about the same $ as ordering something. John will talk with you about how you plan to use the stuff, what you expect from it, how you want it to look... before he even makes an appointment for the fab work to be done. He quoted Shan_VX $450 for a full set of hardcore sliders (matching the curve of his VX even) and skidplates front to back, including behind-the-rear-tire buttguards done/painted/mounted/out the door.

that's the kind of place you should find in your area.

300 for a set of rock sliders; 3/16 2x4 tubing, capped on the ends...very beautiful work and sprayed with a gun for a nice lasting paint finish. Saved about 85 bucks over shipping/getting someone to weld them on once they arrived.

Got it built locally from Classic City Off Road. If you develop a relationship with the guys at the shop (going wheeling with them, becoming buddies) they can usually cut you a break. Referring others to them also works.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I thought maybe there was one avalable from Isuzu, as it looks like one could mate to the radiator skidplate bolts up front, and that a bolt is already there for the rear mount:

I'll check into getting something made. Maybe I could get something off ebay for another model, then just redrill some holes.

You are missing a skid plate there. My Rodeo has one that shares the front bolt and goes to the one you have circled. I doubt I'll get around to posting pics, but anyone else who changes their own oil should know what I'm talking about. Look under some 2nd gen Rodeos!

yeah, my Rodeo has a small skidplate in that place. It can be found on a junkyard, I believe, no big deal.
