Need to know if anyone has a 94 or 95 4Runner with axle code G144, that has a V6, auto, and 31" factory option tires. For those that aren't sure what that axle code is, that is 4.88 gears. I know the 5 speeds came with 4.56, and I think some auto's came with 4.88's, but I'm not sure. Thanks guys.

Welcome back, traitor! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Why not hunt for a V6 5-speed this time around? You will jump to 5.29's anyways, why get the factory 4.88's that cant be regeared?

Not quite sure what you're asking. If you're asking whether some 4runners came with 4.88s, then yes, they did just as you said. Like adam said, you can't regear, but the factory 4.88s are supposed to be the strongest setup.

Here's a pirate thread on the subject: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=143618

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.

I am asking if they actually did come that way. I know they did in theory, but I was wondering if anyone has one with them. After reading that thread, then it appears that some actually did come this way. Thanks.

No urban legend. Here is the model info sticker for my 95 4Runner w/ 3.0L and 4.88 gears stock (check lower right corner). I didn't believe it myself until I pulled the rear diff. The reccomend tire size is 28", not 31". I've searched around and discovered this was part of a towing package that so far I've only seen with the A340H autos and V6s.

BTW, if you are interested in these diffs, I would be more than happy to trade them for two new ones with 5.29 gears and ARB lockers <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> .

If I were you, I'd look for 5 spd with 4.56 to start with. The code is G254...I think. You can run 33's with them with a little struggle on the hill.

BTW, the automatic also came with 4.30 and the 5 spd also came with 4.10, but those are the one with 225/75/15 tires.

If you dont't like religeous holidays, go to work.Otherwise, let's call them what they are.
