Body Damage is Cool
Yesterday I put in a brand new fan clutch and thermostat. The temp is perfect but the new fan clutch seems like it's putting alot of drag on the engine. Also, when I hit the higher end of the rpm range(not the top), the belt starts screaming like crazy. then if I back it down to about say 35 (in 3rd gear) it stops. This happend half way to work last night and then stopped. It has been doing it all day today also. whats going on with this damn thing. The fan clutch is brand new and I tested it before I put it on and it turned with a little bit of resistance but it turned freely. Can someone tell me whats going on.

Belt too loose?

Bearings in mount bad?

Those possibilities come to mind.

Last night I decided to go out and tighten the belt up a little bit and I got the bright idea to take the ac belt off completly. 1 to save a little bit o gas, 2 maybe it will be little bit better with less pull at the same time. well, anyway, I threw a cell. I didn't go get it checked today at auto zone bacause I didn't have time. I have to sleep for work tonight. I have no clue why that would have thrown a cell anyway. Maybe the belt was to tight and maybe it was something else, I don't know. well anyway, I went out and put my old fan clutch back in and I also loosened the belt a smidg. I ran it for a little bit and I got no cell ........ yet. (disconected the battery for awhile) I'll see how that works tonight. there has to be some other problem making this fix not work because, I know this fan clutch is perfectly fine. Maybe this summer I will go for the electric fan who knows. I would really like to get the real problem fixed though. anyway,

That will teach me to try to fix something thats broken!! If it aint broke then dont fix it, and if it is broke but the car still runs then the hell with it. Thats my new motto.

By the way, I have a brand new fan clutch for sale, $75 + shipping. I paid like $120 shipping included. I think it's $110 at the dealer. Good night.
