My brother is looking for a Tracker/Sidekick to flat tow and commute with, we found a nice one but it's an auto, can he flat tow an auto??

I see no problems, This transmission is pretty stout. I have an automatic and pulled a full size Dodge car from the sand while on 4WD High with no sweat.

flat towing as in towing behind a vehicle-- just put into nutral, try to tie off the steering wheel to prevent movement, and if 4x4- shift transfer to nutral(very important!!!). towing still slings oil in the gearing for self lubing. best tow vehicle due to this

I had a 1992 and a 1994 Tracker and both the owner's manuals say the same as my 2000; auto trans 4x4 should have the tranfer case in neutral, and the transmission in Park. Every 200 miles, start the vehicle and leave the Xfer case in neutral, and go through the gears. The books say don't exceed 55mph, but I usually tow about 65mph and have had no problems with any of the Trackers.
