Getting the Wheeling Fever
I've been looking for a good T100 for a few months now and I have noticed in looking at a bunch of them that most SR5's with auto tranny's have a A11A axle code which is 4.44 ratio open diff. I drove a '95 T100 DX manual tranny which had an axle code of A10A which is 4.38 but it felt like it had much higher gearing than the axle codes said (more like 3.90). It seemed slow for a manual.

Every T100 I have looked at has had 31's. I want the lowest gears I can get stock and I believe that is A11A in an SR5. Will auto trannies have lower gears than manual tranny SR5's? Some auto's have had great acceleration and others have not while some manuals have had good acceleration and others have not. Why is there such a disparity? All of them have had between 125k and 170k miles.

Do SR5's have lower gears than DX's? Do auto's have lower gears than manuals? Will all manual T100's have A10A axle codes?

Thanks for any help.

Also, which T100 years/models came with ABS brakes? I'm only looking at '95-'98 Xtra Cab 4x4 models. Thanks.

Typical 4wd Auto 4.30, manual 4.10, the 2wd trucks came with a 3.90 ish ratio...as for acceleration varying among the ones youve driven, a340f auto tranny has a crappy valve body setup, low pressure equals crappy loose shifting.

Ditto what Jake wrote. Different tire sizes might account for different acceleration.

On some of the 93/94's, there was a 4.7 ratio available, but its somewhat rare and you have the older/weaker engine on those trucks, so you're better off with a later model anyway.

ABS was just an option. Mine was an SR5 ("top of the line") and it didn't have it (and I was glad).

glad i dont have ABS either, sucks when you cheeks are puckered on a steep incline and cant slow down...the 4.7 ratio sounds like the 4cyl. T100, ive never seen one, but rumor has it they exist...

I think the smaller toys that had the relatively rare factory 4.88's were 3.0L/autos with a "tow package."

So, I would have said V6 auto, but Toyota isn't alway consistent...
