Hey guys.. I'm trying to put all my belts on, but the tensioner pulley for the A/C is not budging. I've tried loosening the bolt a little, then hitting it with a hammer.. but the darn thing still won't budge. Any ideas on how to move it?

Thanks
-Nick

you have to loosen the nut in the center of the pulley.
then the adjusting bolt will screw in or out with ease.

bigger hammer... bah!
heheheh

Body Damage is Cool
when you tighten the nut back up, dont crank on it or else youll burn the bearing.

I thought there was a bushing or special washer that prevented that, actually. can't remember offhand...

second the over tightening, yes there'ss a small bushing that should prevent it, but it doesn't do a very good job, if you clean it up as well it should prevent it from seizing up while being able to tighten it up reasonably....if it's dirty that is

Use some bearing grease on the bushing, bolt, and the bearing. You might as well grease it while you have it loose.

Not sure if I overtightened mine since it's been about 2 years since I touched it, but it locked up on me this morning on the way to work. At least I was almost here by the time it happened, but man that belt was a smokin'! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />
