Does anyone still have instructions on setting up the gears on a late model IFS diff? I'm looking for the proper way to adjust the backlash. I would think that anyone who has bought and done a gear swap would have those instructions from the gear manufacturer. I know how it's done on a conventional diff. I know how to properly preserve existing backlash if it's correct but the clamshell is tricky to recalabrate if the preload and the backlash is screwed up. Some how you have to completely assemble it (in order to check backlash) without over preloading the carrier. I'm sure someone has figured out the easiest way to do it.

Lars,
I just got some Yukon 5.29 gears for my truck. There's some instruction for setting up gear. Is that what you want?

You're IFS is different, but I'll take anything I can find. I was hoping for specifics on the clamshell IFS. Can you copy them for me?

the gears are for my rear and SA front. I'll copy them and mail them for you. Maybe I can hook up my scanner and email it to you.
I'm getting cable modem for the house this weekend so I can do it sometime after that.

Hey Lars,
After looking closly at the instruction, I think it doesn't have what you're looking for. It has things like what the gear paterns should be but nothing specific as far as make/model.
If you still want it, I'll make a copy for ya.

later.
