simple- i hope. when opening the driver door my interior light won't trip. now here's the weird- all warning sounds will trip. lights- key soundings trip when opening the door. other doors will trip the light- so it works. everything works properly, except the light with the driver door trip. anyone know this one?

Did you check the bulb? Soemtimes you need to jiggle the bulb a little bit in order to get it to turn on.

The interior light on my 2001 Chevy Tracker doesn't work with the door switch either... The manual switch on the roof works so it's not the bulb. I've looked but can't find the door switch, no familiar plunger type. Anyone know where it might be???

yah- the bulb works just fine. that's what has me puzzled. it's like the driver side door just won't turn it on anymore. the door reminders work for the keys and headlight reminder. it just won't turn on the light. all other doors turn the light on. don't know????

It would be nice to know the year and model of your vehicle. That may help in finding the answer to your problem.

The shop manual for the '98 Tracker (I would expect the circuitry to be the same) shows the same wire from the door jamb switch controls both the door alarm module and the dome light. Therefore, if one works the other must. My experience troubleshooting electrical problems says sometimes one of the described symptoms is in error or the problem is intermittent. If that is not the case here, maybe you should call ghostbusters.

the electrical diagram should be the same-- is it possible that the problem is in the warning circitry?? cuz the other doors hit the light but not the alarms-- so is it possible that the driver door is on a different circit then the passenger doors??

I looked at the schematic again. The organization of the FSM is frustrating--I find it hard to find anything. Your problem is most likely a diode which enables the driver's door switch to activate the alarm and also turn on the light. The other switches are connected directly to the light. I remember some conversations about the diode in another make vehicle. In that one, and probably in yours, the diode was located in the dome light fixture. Check it out and let us know what you find.
