I do like the "rebuildability" of them. That will keep them fresh and good working order.

Do they make Warn hubs for your truck. I have had Superwinch hubs on two 1st gen troopers. On my 93 Trooper I have the Warns. I prefer the Warn hubs much more than the Superwinches- the Warns are smoother to operate, are beefier, and don't seem to have the leakage problem I kept encountering with my Superwinches. Don't know enough about the Aisins except that most of the posts I have seen on them have been positive. Mike

I looked on the Warn website, they only make the hubs for troopers and correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Wizard the same as a Rodeo?. Also, according to the Warn application chart they make manual hubs for 83-93 Troopers...I have never seen the alleged 83 Trooper.

Another vote for Aisins: lo-pro and super durable! And yes, you will need to buy a pair of 26mm snap rings. Sean has it right here, I've had Aisins, Superwinch' and Warn hubs. Aisins are definately superior. Anything will be a huge improvement on auto hubs

What are the chances of being able to get Aisin hubs for an 86 Trooper or 84-86 Trooper with the 8 bolt front axle? Are they extremely rare as I'd imagine finding Aisins for the later 87-91 10 bolt front axle Troopers are a lot easier to come by? Plus I wouldn't mind knowing where I could get a set of Aisin hubs in case I'd want to put them on an older 81-85 4WD LUV or PUP pickup. Thanks.

Yes they are alot harder to find than the 10 bolt axle AISINs. They have a different spline count. -J

I was thinking that there weren't Aisins available for the early 8 bolt. I could never find them when I was looking for my '86 a while ago. I know Warns are an option, but I'm not sure about Superwinch. Of course, I could be wrong.

On my parts trooper the hubs are from Superwinch. The truck is an 86 w/ an 8 bolt front end. Granted I bought it for parts in the late 90s from the second owner who never did any mods to it and who knows when the original owner swapped hubs. My guess is that they are still available but I could be wrong.

Yea, I'm not worried about trying to find Superwinch hubs for an 86 Trooper. I've seen them on EbayMotors for the older 84-86 units and I know you can get them. What I was worried about was trying to find Aisins to fit the 8 bolt front axle, which is what the 84-86 run including the older 81-86 PUPs too. They may exist but at the same time may be quite rare to get here in the US. Not exactly sure though? And if not when I go to buy new manual hubs for my Trooper I'll just look into choosing between Warn and Superwinch. Hey, better than the stock auto hubs right?

Only reason i think they are available is that a guy was selling a pair a while ago for $50 on here. He said that they were a lower spline count than the others that he had for the later 10 bolts. But he could have been wrong... -J
