Ok , I put the front tires on today to see how it sits , looks great , but I noticed a problem right away. When I bounced the front end up and down , the driver side tire was going all over the place.I took the tire off and inspected the hub.I can push and pull on it , and it moves in and out about 1/4" or so , maybe a little more , which when you put a 33" tire on looks pretty bad.Now , I did everything back how it goes , tightened to spec with a torque wrench , and all the ball joints are brand new , so are the tie rods , and pretty much everything else in there. Now , could the tie rods , or lack of pressure in the brake system cause this at all?The other side seems fine , just a hair of play , can hardly notice it.
One other thing that comes to mind , when I put the outer bearing and outer race in , I couldn't remember how it went in.Could it be possible I put it in wrong , or will it only go in one way?I can't even remember if I put it tapered side in or out If no one has any ideas what this could be , I might tearit apart again and try reversing the bearing and race.Anyone with any ideas , no matter what , toss them out there

It sounds like you didn't preload the bearing's. My truck preload was 3.31 lbs. If you don't have a Haynes manual or something like that, I would recommend getting one. It has a lot of useful info like that.

Definitely didn't put it in wrong if the rest of it went back together... those things have a rather abrupt taper to them. I'll put in another vote for the preload not being set properly. IIRC, its 2.5-4lbs for an old bearing and new seal; 4.4-5.5 for new bearings and new seal. In case you're not sure how to set the preload: http://www.planetisuzoo.com/articles.htm/56HTH and good luck

Well , never did a bearing preload in my life , so no idea how.I'll read that link you posted and try and learn The bearings aren't that old on here , I just re greased them and figured they would go back in how they were.Guess I was wrong Oh well , hopefully its not too difficult with special tools needed.

The only special tool needed is a fish scale. Shouldn't be too hard to find in Campbell River, just don't use that one you use to support your fishing "tales".

Surprisingly I have no fishing tales I haven't been out in almost 2 years , and even then it was in the lakes for trout.
I read the article on the bearing repack and preload.I understand the fish scale on the lug nuts to check that. Now , it says to tighten the axle nut as you set the preload. In my case , wouldn't I have tightened it until it was either at preload or past , as I tightened it down.I guess I'll do both sides while I'm at it , get them the same.
