Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm looking at purchasing a body lift for a little bit of clearance on the tires and for some better articulation with out having to go suspension. I have a 87 Toyota pickup running 32 x12.50's(need to check either 12.50's or 11.50's..to early to remember ;P). I was wondering if it would be simple or a very time consuming job to put a body lift in. Any information from someone who's done one would greatly appercaite the insight. Looking for how long it would take and any 'special' tools that may be required, thanks.

Very simple... You and a buddy can get it done in an afternoon.

Order the kit from 4Crawler... It's the most complete kit I have ever seen. Comes with everything you may possibly need, and he can help you with the instructions if you need it (he posts here regularly).

Pretty easy as long as the bolts aren't torn up. Time consuming getting to some of the bolts. You may want to look at all the bolts and identify them prior to starting, so you know where everything is.

You may want to think about replacing body mounts at this time since everything is right there.

I also suggest buying from 4crawler.

Thanks,
James

A body lift alone won't gain you ANY articulation......only give you more room to fit bigger tires.

It will give you more articulation if your tires were hitting somewhere on the body, which after the BL will be 1"-3" out of the way. It will not however make your suspension work or flex any better.
1 more vote for 4crawler. It took me 4hrs by myself to do mine. I didn't run into any snags though, and I had done it before.

I hope you don't mean hockey pucks, and if you do, I hope that was a joke.

Easy test(and fast) drill a hole through a hockey puck, take it out back and hit it repetatly as hard as you can with the biggest hammer you can find, what happens? Thats right, it breaks, bummer if this happened while you were driving huh? Spend the money, do it right, cause to me, skimping on something that holds the body of my truck to the frame ain't worth the savings, kinda like buying 4th rate brake parts

Awesome, i'll look into it at the site you have informed me about. I wasn't thinking it would take too terribly long as long as I didn't hit any snags smile. There's alway's that slim chance you dont know about that could go wrong that makes a simple 6 hour project go into the next day ;(

thanks for the information will look forward to ordering and hopefully installing it in the next few weekends =)
