On my Raider 3.0 one time just died. I had fire, gas, air, it would not run. I checked the timing, good. I tried another cap and rotor, coil, all kinds of stuff from the my Montero. I had a distributer from a junk yard and it worked fine. I guess it was the electronics in the distributer.
When you connected and grounded the sparkplug was it a orange/yellow (weak spark)spark or bright blue spark (strong spark). That got me with a honda one time. I was getting fire and it would not run. I could not figure out why. A new cap and rotor and it had a much stronger spark and ran fine. Just a possibility.
Check engine light on?

I went out and bought a compression tester last night and when I did a compression test all cyls were bad. The two back cyls left and right were the highest with 55 and 30 psi the rest were at and around 15 psi. It seems that they all went dead at the same time. The timing belt is in good condition, and all the teeth are there. Heads, pistons, or cams? which do I look at first. Can the timing belt jump a tooth?

I've never had it happen to me or anyone I know. But with the symptoms you have (every cylinder having low compression, and apparently happening at the same time) I would suspect something with the timing, possibly the belt slipping a tooth, or maybe some teeth broke off the belt.

What kind of tester. Screwin or hold it on the hole? This is the best way I've found:
Screw in tester with reading hold button Throttle blocked all the way open. Battery full fat charged up with charger on it while you test the compression? All spark plugs out and ground the coil wire. Test for min. 300rpms cranking speed Test each cylinder in turn, recording readings, pausing to let the batt. recharge after every cylinder. I like to get 4-5 compression pulses per reading, but I think you're supposed to crank it until the reading peaks, but less than 10 compression strokes ("chuff" sounds while cranking).
I know of almost nothing that would cause an engine to run fairly ok, then have that kind of compression on every cylinder except a massively and multiply cracked block, or a non spinning cam cocked with all the valves open just a tad and/or all the valves bent by a similar unlikely amount. I am therefore guessing measuring error, no offense intended....

I used a new screw in type of gauge. I did remove all the spark plugs the batttery had a full charge etc. I started with the left rear came forward then to the right front and on to the back right. The first and last test cyl were the highest so the battery did hold up. No offense taken. I will pull the front of the engine off tomorrow and check the cam timing, but I don't see how the belt could jump the teeth and not show any damage.

I don't see how the belt could jump the teeth and not show any damage. My timing belt tensioner broke and my belt slipped. The belt on the cams looked fine, it did not just line up correctly. When I took the belt off, it looked fine. No marks or tears.

You didn't mention if you blocked the throttle valve all the way open when you did the compression check, if you didn't that will give you low compression (I've made that mistake before). I agree with Fasteddy, this is a very unusual situation, and from what I've heard, the timing belt jumping a tooth is very rare. You might want to get more opinions on this before you do all the work of removing the front of the engine. There might even be an easier way to verify the timing without removing the front of the engine.

When you undress the front of the engine, look closely at the crank pulley bolt to see if it's loose. If it is, look closer to see if the pulley has spun as a result of a broken woodruff key. If so, check further to see if the crank sproket has also spun.
If the trouble isn't with the crank sprocket, I'd carefully check the tensioner and tensioner spring as Sparken suggested.
It seems impossible to have a running engine one minute and virtually no compression the next without a complete catastrophic engine failure or a slipped cam belt.

There might even be an easier way to verify the timing without removing the front of the engine. You can easily remove the driver side cam sprocket cover, rotate the engine to TDC (compression stroke) and check the cam alignment on that side. The dot on the sprocket should be exactly lined up with the hash mark on the rear cam cover. If you have low compression on both sides, checking the driver-only side should tell you if the belt has slipped relative to the crank sprocket. Frank
