Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hope this is an easy one. Can you put tacoma rims on an older 4 runner. Big question is clearance for the hubs in the front.

thanks

15's for sure won't fit...tried won't clear the calipers. Not sure about 16's though?

I run 15's on my '86 and the '85 I'm getting has 15's as well, AFAIK, 15's were stock <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I don't think that the hub will fit through the rim. Where are you getting them from? see if you can do a test fit.

They should fit over the hubs, but you may run into a backspacing problem. I have a set of Sequoia rims, and they fit over the hubs on my 80 without any problem, but they don't clear the tie rods. Do a test fitting if you can.

Just to clarify,
I could not fit 15 inch 95.5+ Tacoma wheels on my 85. They fit on the back but NOT on the front. They actually hit the stock steering arms and tie rods first.

Of course they came stock with 15's <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" /> but believe the question is about Tacoma wheels NOT stock. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The 16" steel Tacoma wheels just barely clear the tie rod end on my 85 pickup. You may get some contact with any large balance weights on the inner rim. A 1/4" spacer will take care of these issues. No issues with the center hole at all. I really like these wheels as they are all Toyota quality, much thicker steel than most of the black wagon wheel replacements out there. I had them stripped and powdercoated black and they are holding up very well.

Well since I also own a tacoma with the TRD rims. I guess its on me to find out if they will work or not. My guess is there might be clearance problem in the front with the rotors if anything, or the hole won't be big enough for the manual hubs to fit.

I dont' see why there would be a problem with the hub cut-out hole.. some Tacoma's came with manual hubs too

because the backspacing is wrong! the most you want to have on a straight axle truck is 3.75". IFS trucks and tacomas IIRC had 4.5" backspacing.

My 99 4Runner stock Aluminum 16" wheels would not fit on the front of my 80 Pickup.
Also, the stock 83 steel wheels would not fit on the front of my 99 4Runner, but does on the 93 Pickup.

I was playing around last year while I was rotating tires and wanted to see how bad the interference actually is.
