I want to replace the shock under the bouncy seat. Unavailible at the dodge dealer and the mitsubishi dealer has it for $180. does anyone have another source for the shock. (question) And I drive a raider will the shock from a montero fit. I think I read somewere on in this forum that the suspension seat frames are diffrent beetween these two models. Thank you for your help.

$180 that's crazy! There is not mitsubishi part number for the shock I would try these guys and see what they can do. I order almost all my stuff thru them.

Otherwise just get one out of a junk yard.

Get it from a junkyard rig.....20 bucks for the whole seat frame. I have a Raider seat-frame in my Montero in both the driver's-side and passenger's-side.

Alternatively & probably as a last resort I might add... maybe a mountain bike rear suspension shock will work with some mods to the seat frame shock mounts.

Well a Raider is nothing else than a re-badged Montero, just another of those commercial gimmicks that I still do not understand. Anyway, I think that the suggestion from off-roader is a good one, I for example have a Mongoose mountain bike that now that I think about it has a shock that I could swear is about the same size as the shock in our bouncy seat. Hmmmm I think that I will be doing some experimentation this coming days that I am off.

88 red Montero with the Dakar Special Edition decals, 438,000 miles (As of 7/23/2012) some occational blue puffing but still strong and counting!!! I am going ppsshhh (turbo), Stay tuned =) ...

As I was removing the shock, I happened to notice that it was labled KYB. I have browsed to there web site and could not find the item in there parts catalog, I will try to call them tommorrow. I may end up playing around with the bike idea if I have no other choice.

A good rear shock from a mountain bike is WAAAAY more than 180 bucks...and I think if you put one of those cheap ones on from a junk bike like Walmart sells, you're just gonna pogo up and down non stop.
