Need a Spot
I'm looking to purchase a real sweet near perfect cond 1990 Trooper with 2.8 V6, auto everything (tranny too), low miles. My 91 Trooper has the same motor (excellent engine btw) but with 5spd. I know my way around maintenence of the manual pretty well, but am ignorant with the auto trans.

Anyone know much about these auto-tranny's? Are they decent? Is there a significant difference in power to the wheels, top end, gas mileage? What problems, if any, should I look for (this one does leak, probably a pan gasket). What I don't want to do is buy something I immediately need to put a grand into a new automatic transmission.

Any suggestions? Comments?

Thanks in advance

What we have is a 4L30E mfg by GM in France. It is used in Isuzus, Caddy Catera and some BMWs. It seems to be as good as most autos. Flush the tranny and fluid add a tranny cooler. Be happy <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

There are many post about the 4L30E if you wanna search the forum.
