Whats the difference in the DOHC 3.2 and 3.5. Barring the obvious "displacement" answer I mean internally. Curious if I could overhaul my 3.2.

Search, dude. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> This has been covered in the past and it also has been covered within the past 2-4 weeks.

There is a ton of information out there and if it does not answer your questions, there are people who are more than willing to help.

I did search. But havent been able to find anything relating to piston size, some have said it is the stroke but I think it is more than that. I think the pistons are bigger but I cant confirm it.

WELL ACTUALLY THE PISTONS ARE SMALLER BY ALLMOST 3/4 OF AN INCH IN TOTAL HEIGHT ,BUT THEY ARE THE SAME DIA THE DIFF IS IN THE STROKE, THEY USE THE SAME RINGS AS THE 3.2 THIS APPLIES TO ALL 98 AND LATER ENGS EXCEPT THE 3.5 DI ENG , AND YES YOU COULD SWAP IN A 3.5 CRANK , RODS AND PISTONS , RINGS AND A SET OF BEARINGS AND BE OVER 3000 DOLLARS OR SPEND AROUND 4 AND GET A BRAND NEW READY TO DROP IN ENG ... NOW YOUR RESEARCH IS DONE JERRY

If that is the case then import performance parts sells the crank kit/rods/and complete engine kit including pistons all for a little over a g. Meaning when my 3.2 goes boom, or before that I can stroke it out to a 3.5 for a quarter of the price. See the links

If I am completely wrong please speak up. My 3.2 is in dire need of a new life.

I'd be curious as to the differences in the pistons, crank, rings, etc. in the 3.5 DI versus the regular 3.5 and 3.2 engines.

CRANK IS THE SAME AS THE REG 3.5 AND SO A RE THE RODS BUT THE PISTONS HAVE A DIFFERENT SHAPED TOP IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AREA AND THE RINGS ARE DIFF, FROM WHAT I CAN TELL THE OIL CONTROL RINGS ARE A DIFF DESIGN BUT THE UPPER 2 RINGS LOOK TO BE THE SAME DESIGN , AND OF COURSE THE HEADS ARE COMPLETELY DIFF AS THIS DI ENG ALSO HAS VARIABLE VLV TIMING (ACTUALLY VARIABLE CAM TIMING ON THIS ONE )JERRY
