I think all the truck V6's have rollers. I would pull a valve cover to look for the source of the noise.

What to look at? Take the covers off and stare at it until the answer squirts me in the eye?

It must be on the cam side then. I don't remember it very well. I'll have to look at the one on my bench at work tomorrow.

Mitsu/Raider 3.0Ls had rollers.... the early Chrysler 3.0L variants did not.

Doug,
I had a similiar sound coming from my 3.0 after changing the timing belt. I thought it was the lifters becuase the sound seemed to be coming from the top end. Well, after 3000 miles I decided to take a look. Sure enough the tensioner was loose. Re-adjusted and the sound went away. A look see at the belt is a bit easier than pulling the v-covers in my book (no gaskets).e

I hope that is it. Good luck. If that does not work pour one of your mitsu beers in the oil fill tube it might like that. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Doug, I have read that some of the newer oils have less high pressure additives to improve converter life. It might be that a older engine oil with more EP additives would work better. Also a 10-40 may get you a bit more film strength. I ahve been running the 5w-40 wt Mobil 1 truck oil with good results. www.bobistheoilguy.com has good info. Kevin
