Thats the way both my front pumpkins ended up, split from the dowels to both edges of the casing, ie., two halves, lots of metal fragments, "gummy" gears (no teeth, like your grandma <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />)

Well I found 2 junk yards that had the complete assembly near me. The first said they had plenty of them to choose from and they were only $350.00 and they pull it for you. The second said they did not know if they had it but for a $1.00 I could search the Yard and if I found one it would be $39.95 + $10.00 core charge but I had to pull it. Well I got up early drove about 100 miles (the other yard is only a couple of miles away from it.)paid, a $1.00 to searched the Yard, and found 2 of them. Checked out after spending about 30 min. removing the assembly and got charged $40.00 and they waived the core charge.. Came home placed the assembly in and works fine.. Not bad for a days work..

If it ain't broke, it will be..
