Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am looking to get a new exhaust system and I was directed to Lifetime muffler brake and radiator inc. in Renton, WA and they are known in the area and the guys at the east highlands parts store recommended them. They said they can fabricate a magnaflow system and install it for $350.00 it would be a 2 1/4 catback... My questions is does this sound like a good deal and anything I should know before hand?

Thanks,

Well, the stock exhaust is 2 3/8" so 2 1/4" would be smaller than stock. I just had a Magnaflow put on my 99 this week (stock muffler was rattling and leaking). I went with the 2.5" x 18" long body (4x9 oval, part # 11256). I paid $73 for the muffler (free shipping with Performance Peddler on ebay) and had a local shop install it for $40 using the stock pipes plus a 6"-8" filler piece since the stock muffler is so big. This was all welded with no clamps.

I don't think you will gain much by having new pipes put on unless your stock pipes are shot. My pipes were solid with 148K miles in the rust belt.

You can listen to different exhausts for 4Runners here:

Again, I went with the 18" version because I thought the 14" might be too loud (for the wife...).
