I installed a Defender roof rack on my xj about a month and a half ago, and it is already rusting like crazy. I can understand rust from where I've chipped the paint off, but this thing is rusting from all over- the welds, joints, bends, etc. And I know that we've had a lot of rain in CA lately, but please... Is this normal? At this rate, the rack won't last another year...

Did you read the directions thoroughly? Often the makers or sellers of cheap junk, and I don't mean inexpensive, will cover their by saying something like, "to prevent rust, wash and wax the (insert cheap junk here) daily" under a little section called "Maintainence" or "Caring for your (cheap junk)". If you didn't follow directions, .

Check this site out and remove the rust then paint with their Rust Encapsulator www.eastwoodco.com . Trust me, I have a 58 year old Willys.
