I'm going to try to put a fully shifted t-case out of a 94 Passport that has Teras in it (I know they are right I put them in)

Anyway I was just curious if anyone has done it. Going from a front back type shifter to a front back and side to side.

I know it will bolt on, I'm just curious if I will be able to shift without interior modifications.

I was gonna open with some sort of Sawz-All joke, but it was too easyà <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Joe - If youÆre concerned with shifter clearances, your best bet would probably be to compare your 2nd Gen Shifter Boot with a 1st Gen Shifter Bootà if theyÆre the same, then youÆre good to goà if not, then maybe you could modify your 2nd Gen to accept a 1st Gen Boot.

I'd like to see where you're going with this Joe...are you going to have to mess with the SOTF system at all?

Well yes and no. I'm going to make it be turning all the time seeing as I have manual hubs it won't really be serving any purpose anyhow.

I just want to get rid of things that can cause problems, like shifter motors and vaccum disconnects. I just want a fully shifted case that just happens to have the Tera gears in it.

Getting rid of the 4wd button also gives me one more spot for the rear ARB I'm planning on down the road.

I like where you're headed. I know I've had a few bugs with my SOTF, and have thought of what to do with it and how how to bypass it, but it never occurred to me to put in a fully shifted case.

Wish I could give you better help with this.

Well after speaking with Jerry Lemond it seems it should be a direct bolt in. The Rodeos overseas don't come with shift on the fly, so they come with a fully shifted case in the second gen trim.

So all I need to do is make a plate with a few rods to hold the shift fork in the right position to hold the collar for the axle disconnect, in the connected position.

Then see if I have the wiring near the tranny for the older style 4wd indicator switch in the t-case.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a fully shifted transfer case?

Well to put it best, you shift the transfer case yourself instead of depending on a shift motor and vaccum disconnects.

For me it's getting rid of stuff that can fail.

On the older trucks the transfer case was shifted entirely via a lever on the floor. On the newer models there is a pushbutton on the dash that engages the front axle vaccuum disconnect and the 4wd shift rail in the t-case. The lever only operates the hi-lo range change.

where you going to run the extra lever to Joe. seems like that area is rather cluttered to begin with. I am sure you will come up with something nice just wanted to get a sneak peek
