At first startup, idle will go up and then come down and almost die. Then it seems to be running alittle rough when idling at lights or whenever stopped. Also, the compressor is clunking when cycling...probably needs shot of oil. Any thoughts on idle problem and what to check before taking it in? Need it running right with gas so damn high.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
intake manifold gasket (IMG) for the rough idle.

My AC compressor is also very loud. Where do you oil a compressor?

Body Damage is Cool
Yeah. I want to confirm that. My '01 was doing the exact same thing. The dealership replaced the IMG under warranty and it runs great now. Modifications should not affect warranty unless you installed a supercharger or something else that affects compression. By law, your 100K drivetrain warranty is not affected by aftermarket parts or mods unless they can be directly linked to the failure. If it is over 100K, then several on the board have done good write ups on IMG replacement, (Doug - username BANSIL). When it gets worse, your CEL will code, indicating a vacuum leak. But, it may go a long time without the CEL indicating a problem. The dealership could hear the vacuum leak on mine, but mine had also coded after I let do a few hard stalls. The CEL turned off again, but the code stays in the computer for quite a few cycles.

Thanks mystic, it only has about 70k miles on it. Nice having a 100k mile warranty. The compressor has oil in it, but could be a shaft seal going out. I'll have them look at it while in shop. Thanks again guys.

I think you can do it thru the one of the ports (hi or lo), but I don't want to mess with the 134 system because of the higher pressure. I've seen cans of "oil charge" at autozone.
