Body Damage is Cool

I do not know if this will help you, but a friend of mine scored a spare hood for his Jeep Cherokee from the local wrecking yard and had louvers punched in it, just like on a gym locker. He had a shop that builds ambulance bodies do it, as they louver the hoods of the ambulances to let the excessive heat out.
Too many 4x4's, not enough time or money

Yes the bottom part that the tube connects to. The tube btw is the heat riser for when the engine is cold. Okay everyone know's I'm a lover not a mechanic? Sh*t! OK uncomplicate the whole mess.....One thing, replace the fan clutch and inspect the fan blade when you are doing that. Do nothing else till that is complete. Do not install the vents, do not install the exaust shield (yet). Only one thing failed at this point and that has been identified. Replace it, and re-evaluate the situation.

when I'm in 4l and just crawling along, I pop the hood so it's just on the safety catch. That helps to get some fresh cooler air under the hood

Your Monty has a safety catch? Not to hijack the thread, but my '89 Raider does not have a safety catch on the hood... should it? Eric W.

It should. It's nothing special.....same thing that most every vehicle nowadays would have. You pull the hood release and that releases the primary latch. Then, when you go up front and reach a finger or two under the hood to release that lever so you can open the hood the rest of the way.....that's the safety catch.
Mine's an '88 and it has it.

Yes it should. When you release the hood from inside the cab, you should have to push a lever under the hood to open it. This lever is the safety catch.
