So I am swapping transmissions(5 speeds) and I go to remove the front driveshaft.... Uhwell, Huh? How in the **** do I get it off the trasfer case?
Now I have done this many times but I just can't remember exactly how. I sorta remember using boxend wrenches but the crossmember is in the way. I do have the cardan joint cover removed which gives me alot of room but...
I tried a 3/8 universal and a 6-point socket but it j-u-s-t won't sit on the bolt head square enough.

Any suggestions?

Thanking you in advance,

-Chris

Take it off the diff, and pull it off the Tcase after you remove the trans. Or take the crossmember off then remove it.

Yes it can be done without, but if you don't need to why do it the hard way.

i had a hell of a time figuring this out too. i've now got it nailed down to a science.

go to sears, pick up a 14mm u-joint socket(about 8 bucks, but worth its weight in gold here). stick that on your ratchet with an extension and put it on the side of the bolt towards the rear. then take your 14mm combination wrench, stick the boxed end through the little hole in the bottom of the crossmember and onto the other side of the bolt. let it hang, and reef on your ratchet. works every time <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
